40 days ago, I read A Confession of Sorts by Cristina Hartmann on Posts
in which the lovely, clever, Quora funny girl let us, her Quora friends know that, along with having been born profoundly deaf, she is now losing her sight.
I was moved to start a crowdfunding campaign at Indiegogo so that we here on Quora could help her buy some of the technology she will need to stay connected to us and the rest of the world as her sight worsens.
Here it is here: Cristina's Braille Tech...
I selected $5 000 as a goal for us and I selected 45 days as the time frame I thought it would take us to raise that much. In fact, we raised the $5 000 in 14 hours.
It was a magical whirlwind-y kind of an experience!
Once that goal was reached, the donations understandably slowed down and we have now raised $7 602. But it took us 14 hours to raise $5000 and it's since taken 41 days to raise another $2 600!
I just want to remind any of you who didn't get around to donating and have now forgotten, that while this money we have raised will be a great help to Cristina, there are going to be many, many things she will have to purchase in the future in order to keep up with technology, things the rest of us need never think about.
So, if you meant to give and forgot, you have about 3 days left to go before the campaign is closed for good!
Here's that link again: Cristina's Braille Tech...
A lot of people have donated anonymously, but I will be writing a post thanking everyone who hasn't specifically asked to be kept anonymous in the next day or so.
Also, if you haven't received the perk that went with your donation, please let me know via email here at Quora!
Please take the time to promote or share this one more time before the campaign shuts down for good later in the week.
THANK YOU ALL!
